What is Yoga Therapy?
And How Does It Benefit the Athlete?
"Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga." ~ International Association of Yoga Therapists
Yoga postures and techniques are a unique method of creating balance in the body and mind where conventional stretching exercises fall short, creating lasting change from the inside out.
Whether you are a professional athlete or someone who engages in regular exercise, most sports put great stress on the body due to repetitive use.
Allowing deep fascial release, Yoga Therapy can shift the body into a more relaxed state by switching from the fight or flight of exercise into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest), which is the environment in which the body can heal.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy incorporates modern psychology elements with the healing art of yoga, which can be effective for those experiencing, or living with:
chronic body pain, joint pain & other movement issues
anxiety, depression, stress, life issues
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A SESSION?
In a private one-on-one environment, your therapist will conduct a thorough intake, inquiring into many aspects of your health and lifestyle. Using meditation techniques, supported restorative postures and a dialogue process, you will be brought into a deeper awareness of what is happening in your body and how it might be affecting you.
The benefits of yoga therapy can be: relaxation that allows clarity and focus, improved athletic performance, stress management, pain relief and injury prevention.
NO YOGA EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Athletes are beginning to recognize Yoga as a training tool and recovery technique to improve their bodies and their minds.”
