Debbie Nessel HHP, RYT
Debbie’s journey with yoga began in 2007; after having her first child. Yoga classes became a place to find quiet and connect with the body. Then in 2012, Debbie experienced the sudden loss of her dad, as well as three other family members within a two month period. Working as a hospice palliative care professional, provided Debbie with expansive knowledge and resources for grief support, though Debbie knew the benefits of yoga and began daily classes at a local studio.
Over two years she saw improvement in her physical practice, though also found emotional and mental release. Taking this off the mat, Debbie was able to create more peace and patience in her daily life, and was inspired toward healthier living. The physical postures of yoga are only once piece of what yoga has to offer – the benefits are various and can become a lifestyle.
In 2013 Debbie decided to register for the 200hr hatha teacher training program at Yoga for Today, with intention to share yoga’s healing benefits with others. As a Yoga Alliance registered instructor, Debbie looks forward to helping individuals create more space within their bodies and minds at Evolve, through hatha and yin yoga practice.
Debbie also holds designation as a Holistic Health Practitioner from MacEwan University, and is a certified Reiki Master Teacher. She has worked in hospice palliative care, as well as for the UofA/Stollery Children’s Hospital as a Reiki Provider.
