What Is Personal Training?
A personal trainer is a person qualified to coach others in order to achieve a desired level of fitness. He or she does not just show people how to work the machines in a gym, they also have the skills and experience to help clients reach a fitness level that is appropriate for their body.
Whether you are going to a gym for the first time or as a high level competitive athlete, there are many benefits to using a personal trainer. They begin to thoroughly examine your lifestyle and goals to determine what the best course of action is to achieve your goals. Personal trainers out of Evolve are experts in their field, are highly educated and determined to assist you in reaching your goal. Some areas where they excel in are:
- Weight management
- Cardiovascular and resistance exercise prescription
- Movement analysis and injury prevention
- High level sports specific training
Benefits to Personal Training
Some of the biggest problems with fitness programs is willpower and adherence. The client may be enthusiastic in the first few weeks, but may later become bored with the program or has lost the motivation to attend the gym. The personal trainers at Evolve encourage new and existing clients while pointing out the benefits to be gained in both fitness and self-confidence to keep them on track to their goal.
The benefits having a personal trainer can include:
- Safe and proper exercise instruction to increase proficiency within a gym setting and to reduce injury
- Education surrounding health and wellness
- Beginner to advanced exercise programs for all variations of client specific goals
Strength and Conditioning Coaches
Like personal trainers and group exercise instructors, strength and conditioning coaches help others to improve their fitness. But strength and conditioning coaches differ from the others in one very important way—the clients they work with are focused on improving their performance or skill in a sport. This is why strength and conditioning coaches work primarily with athletes.
Strength and conditioning coaches have two primary goals. The first is to improve athletic performance, which usually means improving athletes’ speed, strength, and power (although specifics vary according to athlete and sport). The second is to develop systematic training programs for both teams and individual athletes, often working in close association with coaches. This usually includes teaching proper lifting techniques, supervising and motivating athletes as they work out, and assessing their performance before and after the program.
