Physiotherapy at Evolve
Physiotherapy is Evolving in Edmonton as we take a different approach to treatment. Our physiotherapists have the ability to use the gym as a treatment site to analyze movement patterns and see what is the cause of the injury, what changes can be done within movement to correct the injury, and have the ability to develop treatment methods through exercise rather than typical physiotherapy modalities.
Our physiotherapists are experienced in treating all types of individuals in Edmonton from office workers, trades workers, and the general population, to Olympic Weightlifters, Powerlifters, bodybuilders, and many athletes in a variety of sports.
At Evolve, we do physiotherapy the way it was designed, treatment and assessment through movement.
What is Physiotherapy?
Musculoskeletal injures typically respond very well to physical therapy, including an accelerated recovery and the return of function. Physiotherapy uses a variety of treatments to reduce pain, restore joint range of motion, and strengthen and recondition the body to facilitate a safe and timely return to normal activity. The physiotherapists at Evolve will not only help alleviate your pain, but also discover the source of what may be causing your injury.
We specialize in safe, advanced mobilization techniques to immediately reduce pain and restore function. Physical therapists use their hands to put pressure on muscle tissue and mobilize joints in an attempt to decrease pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction.
Customized treatment plans are designed to increase strength, restore range of motion and alleviate pain. Physical therapy and rehabilitation programs are developed using the most effective treatment methods available, including:
- Advanced manual therapy techniques
- Joint mobilization
- Trigger point therapy and myofascial release
- McKenzie exercise programs
- Postural training
- Strengthening, flexibility and mobility training
- Balance/proprioception training
- Dry Needling/IMS
MS is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain of neuropathic origin. It is based on scientific neurophysiological principles. IMS involves the insertion of fine acupuncture type needles into the body where muscles have shortened or contracted. It is problems at these points that are often the root of long term pain. While a muscle is tight and contracted it can’t heal properly. With IMS we are trying to stimulate a healing process to help the muscles to relax.
IMS treatment is best suited to treat soft tissue pain that shows no obvious sign(s) of ongoing tissue damage or inflammation, such as many forms of neck/back pain, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and fibromyalgia, amongst others. It is often effective when other forms of therapy have failed.
