Personal Trainer

Robb Chalifoux

I am the owner of Robb Chalifoux Strength & Conditioning and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I take a science-based approach to strength training to help you reach your goals; develop and increase your comfort and confidence in gym settings and with fitness equipment; and create a positive and lasting relationship with fitness and strength training.

For over ten years I’ve been working with clients who are at varying stages of their fitness journeys– from beginners to elite athletes – and with people of all ages, genders, sexualities, and abilities. I offer a respectful, inclusive, motivating, and whole-person approach to training. I safely challenge my clients so that they increase their strength, mobility, and conditioning with each session.

I developed a passion for sports and fitness at a very young age and my dedication to excellence in athletics carried me into young adulthood. I chose to switch gears for a few years and my best friends and I found ourselves in a Juno-nominated band, touring the world, and experiencing our dreams come true as musicians in the band Stereos. I returned to fitness in 2011 where I began training at the iconic Rise Above in Huntington Beach, California. Eventually, my personal training journey took me back to Canada where I expanded my expertise, completed NAIT’s personal training program, and then managed personal training departments in Edmonton-area gyms, before starting Robb Chalifoux Strength & Conditioning.

2020 brought the world to a halt by forcing people to change their lives. Some of these changes were welcome and others reminded us how vulnerable we are without health. We learned that our families and communities are stronger together when we prioritize wellness. Some things that kept me mentally and physically well were fitness, walks in the river valley, playing music, my cats, and my partner, Margot.

Rachelle McGillivray

My name is Rachelle McGillivray. After reading every fitness magazine on the shelf and not finding enough information, it was time to enroll in school and chase my passion. In 2010 I graduated from N.A.I.T with a diploma as a personal fitness trainer. Finally, I cannot get enough personal development. Give me books, seminars, and equipment courses…let’s talk!

In these past 11 years I have been honing coaching my skills by working with a wide variety of people. I have worked with athletes, juniors to seniors, newbies to gym experts. I love to see people progress towards their goals. Whether that be playing with their grandchildren at the park, returning to work safely, or getting to that next level of sport.

If the term ‘functional’ hasn’t been overused, then that’s how I would generally describe my training style. I train in terms of movement patterns that you would use in your daily life. Squat to pick up dishes out of the dishwasher. Rotate to find a shelf. Overhead press to put the dishes on a high shelf. Sound familiar? But maybe its heavier yardwork? Or a golf ball you want to whack around the course? We have a life to live, and we need to be strong to live it, so we have some work to do. Not sure where to get started? I know where. If you have a goal let me help you reach it. I’ve got the knowledge, the tools and I’ve got your back.

It is my personal mission to equip all my clients with everything I’ve learned so they can outgrow me; from breaking barriers for consistent fitness in parenthood, to navigating fitness after injury or disease, and increasing both strength and muscle mass.

Rhiannon Sarah McLeod

Growing up very active, I played hockey for close to 10 years, up until teenage-hood. I left behind sports to pursue other passions during which I started my own photography business. Leaving behind all my physical activity I went through many up’s and down’s with my body image and health over the years that followed. Eventually I decided to commit to change, the process and the time it takes. I worked for a year on my own fitness at home, during which I lost 30 pounds. I fell in love with building muscle and strength, my acne cleared up, and I didn’t get sick anymore. Once I hit my one year fitness milestone I discovered Olympic Weightlifting and an obsession for barbells was born. My favourite part of being a trainer is that it allows me to share my knowledge and help people improve. My role is to teach you and do myself out of a job as you gain the skills and experience you need to succeed.

I specialize in helping people feel and look strong, gain confidence and live fulfilling, healthy lives.

I’d best describe myself as a lifestyle personal trainer. I want to be someone who uses language you can understand, while teaching you and providing value. I want to be someone you can relate to who can guide you towards positive outcomes. When you work with me I want to see you reach your goals inside and outside of the gym. Whether that be longer hikes, a promotion at work, or guiding you on the journey of growing old with the people you love.

I host a podcast called The Lifestyle Chase which is a great way for you to get to know me before reaching out. You can even learn about a few other trainers in the community (and this facility) as well as some business owners and inspiring people as well as across North America and beyond.

I work with clients internationally as a coach with A-Team Fitness and I also offer that same level of service to anyone I work with locally under my own brand.

For years it has been my mission to have a meaningful role in making other people’s lives more abundant.
I am an open book and very transparent. If you have any questions about me, or want to ask me a skill-testing question, feel encouraged to connect.

I offer complimentary consultations over a video call to make sure we’re the right fit and to get you clear on what it is I have to offer as your trainer.

Kevin Zimmerman

My involvement in Olympic weightlifting began in 1972. I have an extensive background as an athlete, coach, administrator and official in the sport since that time. I have been the head coach of the Olympic Power and Fitness weightlifting club since 2005. During that time, I have developed athletes to successfully compete at the Western Canadian Championships as well as Junior and Senior Canadian Championships. Also during that time, I have been one of the coaches for Team Alberta for many of these competitions and have coached athletes to become national champions.

I have worked extensively with athletes at all levels from novice to elite and always enjoy seeing the progress that they all make at whatever level they are training at. It is always exciting to see athletes become stronger and more proficient in the lifts and the satisfaction they feel from their training. My focus is on teaching proper movement patterns to ensure that athletes are completing all lifts and assistance exercises in safe and efficient patterns. I have worked with competitive weightlifters as well as athletes from other sports using the lifts to gain strength and power for their sport. The skills learned through this training are extremely functional and carry over very well to any other sport that requires speed, flexibility and power.

Bruce Shaw

I have been a soccer player for over 15 years, and have always held a great passion in other sports such as basketball, tennis, and cycling. My interest in strength and fitness training started in my high school years when I played competitive soccer. I realized my performance on the pitch could benefit from relevant strength and agility training which sparked a huge change in the way I train for sport.

I started to lift weight and perform powerlifting related training two years ago. I noticed that lifting makes me stronger and more competitive in my soccer career. It lead my body to stay lean and resist putting on extra fat which had never became as easy as it is from lifting weights. I have built a lot of muscle mass, lost fat, and been feeling positive when I encounter tough situations in my life. By the time my soccer career finished, I decided to help more people realize the importance of lifting and incorporating regular exercise in their daily life. I perused my Personal Training Specialist Certificate through Canfit Pro which gave me the opportunity to spread my training concepts and sports experience to many individuals who are looking to life a more healthy and active. I want to be part of your success. I enjoy working with people who are interested in weight loss, general fitness training, and athletic training as my goal is to help athletes have a blistering career.

As a personal trainer, I believe that all-around development makes a better individual. Strength and stability training will not only improve your fitness level, but it will make everyday life feel great as your confidence, strength and endurance are drastically increased. I not only help you to throw some body weight away, but will also teach you the skills and techniques needed to adopt a health and active lifestyle. Together, we can build a better you.
