I love connection, I thrive when I’m active and empowering others is my jam.

Do you ever feel like you need to get in shape before you can step foot in a gym? Are you overwhelmed or intimidated in a gym setting? Have you been showing up and putting in the time, but not really getting the outcome you desire? Maybe you want to feel stronger, move better and gain confidence?

Let me help you navigate through the obstacles that have been in your way. Let’s create a new path to your goals together.

From my own personal experience, I can tell you short term fixes are just that – short! Quick fixes oftentimes leave us feeling defeated when we can’t keep up. I believe in setting realistic goals that are attainable and support our long term success.

Self-improvement, ownership and confidence comes when we drop our guard, get vulnerable and lean into support.

To me “health, fitness, nutrition” isn’t about spending all of our “left over” time at the gym, counting calories, “eating clean”, doing exercises that we don’t even like & it sure as hell isn’t about stepping on a scale that we all know will rob us from our happiness It’s about coming to the gym because we enjoy moving our bodies & the benefits it adds to our lives, it’s about eating mindfully & most importantly, it’s about eating foods that we enjoy without feeling guilty.

Personal Trainer

Sara Millman

My name is Sara, I’m the owner and trainer behind Mama Bear fit, as well as a blessed mom of two children. My journey of health and fitness started in my teens, I struggled with anxiety (I didn’t know it at the time) and quickly realised that when I exercised I felt happier. I started my journey with at-home workout videos and outdoor activities and realized my fitness regime helped my mental health so drastically that I knew I wanted to be able to help others with health and fitness and went to college to become a personal trainer with a goal to not just to help people with their aesthetic appearance but to also help them view exercise as a positive part of their life. At that point in my fitness journey I found strength training, not only did
I become stronger and healthier but my confidence grew and suddenly I wasnt so shy and uncomfortable in social situations. After 6 years of personal training, and 2 children I realized there was not only a huge lack of prenatal, postnatal, and women’s specific training in the community but also a lot of misguidance. With this realization Mama Bear Fit was created with
a goal to provide a service where women can focus on their own health and wellness, well implementing my coaching methodology to ensure the women of our community are getting the service and care that they deserve.

Mike’s love for fitness and sports started at a very young age. He has always participated in sports since the days of recess in elementary school. He played competitive football throughout high school then went on to take Fitness and Lifestyle Management at George Brown College. During his time at George Brown he began training in Muay Thai Kickboxing and fell in love with the scientific principles behind strength training and fitness development.

Mike continued his training in Muay Thai for a total of six years and opened a small fitness studio in 2012 where he trained a wide variety of clientele before moving to Edmonton to start a new career. He never lost his love and passion for fitness and helping people achieve their goals.

Four years ago he decided he wanted to compete for the up and coming sport of Powerlifting. Since starting he has competed in a local Edmonton competition in 2015 where he placed 1st in the 83kg class, and then went on to compete in Western Canadian Championships in 2016 where he placed 3rd in the 83kg class. He is now using all the knowledge he has gained through school and personal experiences to coach people that come from a multitude of different fitness backgrounds. Sharina Palaypay

I’ve always enjoyed playing sports and working out because I love to compete and test my own limits. I enjoy Spartan Races and got into Powerlifting last year. I’m currently dipping my toes into Crossfit as I enjoy learning and doing different types of training.

I worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years but never felt like I was living my life purpose until I hired a personal trainer two years ago. I initially had a goal of losing weight but as I continued training, I gained much more than just reaching my goal weight. I had more confidence, I started to take more risks, and became strong and resilient to whatever came my way. That’s when I realized I wanted to become a Personal Trainer; My mission is to turn one’s inner pain into power and help them unleash the inner athlete they didn’t know existed.

I am currently working on obtaining my Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certificate and going to work towards getting my certifications to coach for Powerlifting and Crossfit after.

As a lifetime athlete who’s competed worldwide and as someone who has been in the industry since 2014 I could talk a lot about myself here, but this isn’t about me….. it’s about you taking the step to become the person you’ve always dreamed of knowing that you’re in the hands of someone that can take you every-step-of-the way there.

It’s about you feeling so incredibly comfortable and confident in the skills and knowledge of the person you’re working with hand in hand on your journey to achieving your goals knowing without a doubt that they can take you there.

…And this is exactly what I’m here to do.

So, whether you’re looking to feel like the best you can be just because why not, or if you’re doing a prep for a serious competition – you can trust I have you covered in all ways.

And with years of coaching athletes from average to nationally qualified, you can bet I’m invested in you getting there too.

Oh, and if you don’t identify with being an athlete yet – my goal is to get you there!

BSc. Kin, CSEP-CPT, FRCms, EXOS XPS 1

Behind my name is a small taste of alphabet soup. These certifications serve to dictate institutions I’ve been to, what tests I’ve passed and how I spend my weekends. It’s not indicative of what services I can provide for you.

(Seriously, it’s like grabbing a fist full of scrabble tiles.)

What matters most is what I can do for you. I want to help you lose weight, get jacked, decrease pain, improve performance and/or help with your return-to-play program.

My training philosophy can be boiled down to:

  • Serious Training
  • Silly Human

In other words, I don’t take myself too seriously, but I firmly believe that serious strength training fixes a lot of problems. You have to lift stuff in order to fix stuff.

When taking on new clients, the most important thing for me to understand is where you’re at and where you want to go. This is about you, after all. From there, I’ll create a fully individualized program aimed at helping you achieve the more supple, swole, resilient badass version of you that you deserve to be.

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah. O+ blood, perfect kidney function.
